Helle Cook: “Veils of Trees”

‘Veils of Trees’ is an installation of transparent textile paintings suspended between 6 Linden trees that circle the top of the 1760 ‘Snail Hill’ (Sneglehøjen) at Hollufgård. The 10 textile works are painted in situ at Hollufgård Artist Residence. Artist Helle Cook, who lives in Brisbane, Australia, has just completed her second residency at Hollufgård. Helle usually lives in Brisbane, Australia, where she through her art practice explores the notion of home, liminality and light – in particular how the Nordic sensory experience of light and nature differ from Australia. Most of all, the simple, symbolic and abstract lines of the paintings are intuitive with sense of place, environment, light and aesthetics in mind.
